Drunk Driver Threatens Homeless Camp

Drunk Driver Threatens Homeless Camp

A 25 year old man is under arrest after he barely missed running over several homeless men who were sleeping under the bridge at East Quincy and Lexington, just north of downtown, early Saturday.

Police say a VIA Transit officer noticed a car going east on Quincy without its headlights on about 3AM today.

The car then turned the wrong way down a driveway behind the Baptist Imaging Center.

He then crashed through a Cyclone fence, went down an embankment, and barely dodged homeless men sleeping under the bridge.

He managed to stop the car before falling onto the lower level of Interstate 35, when a cement pillar broke his fall.

The motorist was arrested for drunk driving.  Evading arrest charges are also possible.
