Army: Soldier's Death at Ft. Sam Apparently an Accident

Army investigators said today they do not suspect foul play in the death of a 28 year old soldier who was found badly injured in a stairwell at a barracks at Ft. Sam Houston on Sunday and died later at SAMMC.

CID investigators tell 1200 WOAI news that it appears that the death of Specialist Ian Patrick Morgan was due to an accidental fall.

"At this point in the investigation, we do not suspect foul play and see no signs of foul play, although we have not completely ruled it our in order to conduct a complete and thorough investigation, CID spokesman Chris Grey said.

Investigators say Spec. Morgan had been attending a party Saturday night.

CID officials say they want to make sure the Ft. Sam community realizes that there is no killer on the loose, and no danger to the community.

No final ruling on Morgan's death will be made until the results of an autopsy have been released.
