SA Chamber Heads to DC for Annual Lobbying Trip

  Several key issues are on the agenda as more than one hundred local business and political leaders head to Washington DC for the San Antonio Chamber's annual 'S-A to D-C' trip.

  This is the 36th straight year that the Chamber has taken a local delegation to Washington to lobby for key items for the region's agenda in the coming year.

  There are several key issues on the agenda this year.  1200 WOAI news reports the group will lobby in support of the immigration reform measures which have been introduced by House Republicans.

  They will also lobby in support of building a new federal courthouse on West Nueva Street, on the land where the San Antonio Police Headquarters formerly stood.

  Also key...lobbying in support of the nomination of the Alamo and the other four Missions to be World Heritage Sites, and laying the groundwork to protect and grow San Antonio's military presence with another round of base closings expected in 2015.

  The Chamber delegation will hear from NSA Director Jim Clapper, as well as CBS News White House Correspondent Bill Plante, and the President of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
