Former President George W. Bush underwent heart surgery this morning, his office confirms to 1200 WOAI news.
The former President, who is 67, had a stent placed inside a blocked heart artery at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Bush spokesman Freddy Ford says the blockage was discovered during Mr. Bush's annual physical examination at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas.
The operation was routine, and Mr. Bush is said to be in 'high spirits.'
Ford says the former President will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow and will return to his regular duties on Thursday.
"He is grateful to the skilled medial professionals who have cared for him," Ford said. "He thanks his family, friends, and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes. And he encourages us all to get our regular check ups.
